With less than four months into
2010 already several policy amendments, guidelines and financial
support mechanisms have come into effect.
The advent of the 'Regional
Strategies' for counties and the supplements to PPS1 outlined in
'Planning for a Low Carbon Future in a Changing Climate' will help
in encouraging more renewable energy projects and increase the rate
at which they progress through local planning. In conjunction with
these DECC has released guidelines for regional authorities to best
utilise their renewable and low-carbon opportunities.
The commencement of the
Infrastructure Planning Commission earlier this month will also act
as a source of finance for nationally significant infrastructure
such as wind energy developments.
