West Coast Energy and Huntly Development Trust are hosting two
community drop-in sessions for members of the public to come along
to and learn more about the proposed Cairnborrow Wind Farm which
includes a community turbine.
Representatives from both West Coast Energy and Huntly
Development Trust will be on hand to provide an update on the
proposals for the development and community turbine.
The drop-in sessions are being held at:
Tuesday 18th October, Glass Village Hall, Glass, AB54 4XP
2pm to 7pm
Wednesday 19th October, Stewart's Hall, 15-17 Gordon Street,
Huntly, AB54 8AJ
10am to 4pm
West Coast Energy has set up a partnership with the Huntly
Development Trust, the first of its kind in Aberdeenshire, to
deliver the community turbine at Cairnborrow Wind Farm. As part of
this, the Cairnborrow Wind Farm Community Turbine Benefit Working
Group was established to discuss the broad principles of how the
fund should be managed. The Huntly Development Trust will assist in
developing the community turbine and work with the local
communities involved in the proposed development.
West Coast Energy submitted the planning application for a ten
turbine wind farm, approximately 6km north-west of Huntly.
Following feedback received at the first round of exhibitions held
in November last year and January this year, West Coast Energy
decided to include a community turbine within the overall proposed
development. Should the proposals be approved by Aberdeenshire
Council, the local community will benefit from one tenth of the net
income from the wind farm as a whole.
