West Coast Energy is exhibiting at DTA (Development Trusts
Association Scotland) conference and AGM on 4th and 5th September.
The theme of this year's event is "Development Trusts: Creating the
Future", picking up on the increasing interest in community-led
regeneration currently being shown by politicians and funders, and
the corresponding focus on the work of development trusts.
Richard Fearnall, Development Manager at West Coast Energy, will
be attending the event in Scotland, to answer any queries from
communities as to how they can benefit from wind energy
proposals.
"Funding cuts across the board mean that many feasibility and
development grants are no longer available. Communities who want to
realise the potential for wind energy development locally will rely
more on established developers for project management and finance,"
said Richard. "However, community organisations need to know what
is possible if they are to secure a suitable deal. At West
Coast Energy, we have established a number of successful wind
energy community models across a growing number of projects such as
the Earlsburn Wind Farm in Stirlingshire."
Martin Turner, from frost-free, who are partners with West Coast
Energy, will be presenting at the event on how development trusts
can maximise income from neighbouring commercial wind farm
developments or, work in partnership with commercial developers to
initiate their own wind turbine projects.
